Amy Merritt, MSN, RN
Director of Nursing
Amy Merritt has practiced nursing for 17 years. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Sampson Community College in Clinton, NC, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and her Master of Science in Nursing with a Nursing Education concentration from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She grew up in Wallace, NC and relocated to Wilmington in October of 2020 with her 15 year old son and 9 year old daughter. Amy started as a cardiac nurse at NHRMC and gained experience in management and leadership while there. Upon completing her MSN, she left the hospital to pursue nursing education. While teaching, she was introduced to mental health nursing. This introduction, along with personal, family experiences with substance use, sparked an interest in working with SA patients. After 11 years in academia, she left UNC Wilmington to return to the clinical side of nursing. She joined WTC in February 2022, and is currently the Director of Nursing. Some of Amy’s out of work interest include being by the pool or beach, shopping, sewing, embroidery, reading, and spending time with her children.
