Barb Barry DNP, RN, AGNP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Barb recently joined the Wilmington Treatment Center medical team in January 2023. She has over 30 years of professional experience in healthcare. Barb graduated from Duke University with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in May of 2022, her post-master Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Primary Care in 2018, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing Education in 2007.  She began her nursing career in 1995 after graduating with honors from UNC-Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Barb’s bedside nursing background is primarily in adult medical surgical and intensive care medicine. She has also taught at both Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington and UNC-Wilmington in the pre-licensure nursing programs. Barb continues as adjunct faculty at UNCW because of her passion for educating the next generation of healthcare providers. A proud veteran, Barb was in the Air Force, where she was a medical laboratory specialist. Barb brings empathy, an easygoing communication style, and a desire to provide holistic care to all patients she encounters.

On a more personal note, Barb resides in Wilmington with her husband of 25 years; she has three grown children and two big fur babies. She is originally from Northwestern Pennsylvania and is an avid Steelers fan. In her spare time, you’ll find Barb on the tennis courts, at the beach, enjoying music, watching any and every sport, and spending time with family.
